A lot of directories hand out badges for filling in a profile. On NeedReno, the Verified badge is earned: contractors submit their business licence and proof of insurance, and our team reviews the documents before the badge appears. Listings that have not completed verification are clearly presented as claimable business listings, never dressed up as vetted pros.
Reviews follow the same philosophy. Only homeowners who actually connected with a contractor through the platform can review that job, which keeps ratings tied to real projects rather than drive-by opinions. Contractors cannot pay to remove a review or to move up a ranking; our best-of lists are scored from reviews, response speed, verification and profile quality, and they say so on the page.
We are equally deliberate about what we do not do. NeedReno never sits between you and your contractor on payments: you hire directly, contract directly and pay directly, so there is no markup hiding in your quote. Homeowners never pay us anything. Contractors pay for the platform through subscriptions and lead fees, and that is the entire business model.
