Client Reviews
3 reviewsAfter a break-in on our street, my wife and I finally decided to get a proper security system, and I'm so glad we went with General Home Systems. From the first consultation it was obvious we were dealing with people who have been doing this for decades, not a fly-by-night alarm salesman. The technician walked the entire property with us, explained exactly where cameras and sensors should go and why, and designed a system around our actual home rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all package. They installed a full alarm system with door and window sensors, glass-break detectors, motion sensors, and six 4K cameras with a proper NVR, all neatly wired and hidden, no ugly exposed cabling anywhere. The 24/7 monitoring has given us real peace of mind, especially when we travel, and the app they set us up with is genuinely easy to use; I can check the cameras, arm and disarm the system, and get instant alerts from my phone. What really stood out was the follow-up. A month in, we had a question about adding a camera to the garage, and they came back out promptly and integrated it into the existing system without trying to nickel-and-dime us. The technicians were punctual, respectful of our home, cleaned up after themselves, and took the time to teach us how everything worked before they left. You can tell this is a company that has built its reputation over 30+ years on doing things right. Our whole family feels safer, and I've already recommended them to my parents and a couple of neighbours. If you want a security system installed properly by people who actually know what they're doing, these are the folks to call.
We built a new home and wanted it wired properly for the long term, hardwired Ethernet throughout, whole-home Wi-Fi that actually works, security cameras, and smart-home automation for lighting, thermostats and door locks. After talking to a few companies that clearly specialized in just one piece of that puzzle, General Home Systems was the only one that could do all of it under one roof, and do it well. Their team pre-wired the entire house during construction with Cat6 to every room, coax and speaker wiring, and dedicated runs for the cameras and access points, all terminated cleanly in a proper structured-wiring panel in the basement. Once we moved in, they came back and set up the network, the mesh Wi-Fi, the camera system, and integrated everything into a single automation platform. I now control lighting scenes, the thermostat, the alarm, the cameras and the locks from one app, and it just works, no dropouts, no fiddling. What impressed me most was their knowledge of the networking side; our previous house had constant Wi-Fi dead zones and buffering, and this house has rock-solid coverage in every corner including the backyard. The electricians on their team also handled all the low-voltage and electrical work, so we didn't have to coordinate multiple trades. They were meticulous about labeling every cable and provided documentation of the whole system, which the tech in me really appreciated. Pricing was fair for the scope, and they stuck to it. It's rare to find a company that's equally strong on security, automation, networking and electrical, but General Home Systems genuinely is. Everything is future-proofed and I don't anticipate needing to touch the infrastructure for years. Highly recommended for anyone doing a serious smart-home or new-build project.
We hired General Home Systems to overhaul the security at our commercial warehouse and office in Toronto, which included a full CCTV camera system, alarm monitoring, and card-access control on several doors. Overall we're very happy with the result. The design phase was thorough, they came out, assessed our coverage gaps, and proposed a camera layout that eliminated the blind spots our old system had. The installed cameras are excellent quality, the footage is clear day and night, and the access control has made managing staff entry far simpler than the old key system. The 24/7 monitoring and the ability to review footage remotely have already proven their worth. The install team was professional and clearly experienced with commercial-scale projects, not just homes. I'm giving four stars rather than five only because the project timeline slipped by about a week due to a back-ordered access-control component, and communication during that delay could have been a bit more proactive on their end. Once the part arrived, though, they finished quickly and the commissioning was flawless. Their pricing was competitive for a system of this size, and the ongoing monitoring service has been reliable. For any business owner in the GTA looking for a security partner who can handle cameras, alarms and access control properly, General Home Systems is a solid, experienced choice and I'd use them again.
